KASHISH International Poster Design Contest for the official festival poster and overall look of KASHISH 2014 is now open.
Voted as one of the Top 5 LGBT Film Festival in the World, KASHISH Mumbai International Queer Film Festival is now seeking an international cool look for its 5th edition with the theme ‘Dare To Dream’. The theme is a salute to the undying spirit and synergy of our Indian queer community whose decades-long struggle for equality and dignity has been setback by the recent Supreme Court verdict regarding Sec 377. Disheartened, but not willing to give up, the Indian queer community fights back with hope for a non-discriminatory world.
For the past two years KASHISH International Poster Design Contest has become a celebrated worldwide competition, receiving entries from several countries.
The winner is picked by India's top fashion designer Wendell Rodricks who has also instituted a cash award of INR 20,000 for the poster winner.
While the 2012 winner was a young student S.Ayyappa from Hyderabad, the 2013 winner was a graphic designer Prachi Patil-Kotkar from Mumbai.
This year it could be you. Unleash your creativity to design a winning poster for KASHISH 2014 and win a cash award of INR 20,000 along with a beautiful KASHISH trophy.
KASHISH 2014 will be held from May 21-25, 2014 in Mumbai. Now, you can be apart of the festival by designing its official POSTER, wherever you are in the world. The design will also feature on billboards, print and online advertisements, catalog cover, banners, cinema slides and delegate cards.
Poster Contest Rules
1. Submission Deadline: February 15, 2014
2.The submitted poster design MUST include:
- KASHISH logo which is available at:
-Tagline: South Asia’s Biggest Queer Film Festival
- Festival Dates: May 21-25, 2014
- Space for logos of organizers and partners (to be inserted later)
3.The submitted poster design should be:
- A2 size (420 x 594 mm or 16.5 x 23.4 inches VERTICAL)
Poster designs in Horizontal or Landscape orientation will not be considered.
- In high resolution jpeg format (max 5mb)
Upon selection the design should be available as a Corel Draw / Adobe Photoshop file. It should be adaptable for festival’s branding like Banners, Catalog, T-shirts,Certificates,
- Free of copyright infringements.
All images used in the poster should be original and not be copyrighted elsewhere.
- Accompanied by a Concept Note explaining your design.
Poster Contest FAQs
Who can submit ?
This is an International Competition. Anyone, anywhere in the world can participate.
How many entries can I submit?
Each participant is allowed to submit maximum TWO entries. Anyone found to have submitted more than that will be disqualified.
What about images to be used?
It could be a graphic or a photograph that is easily adaptable across design platforms. The participant holds full responsibility of owning the copyright to the images and designs submitted to the contest. The entry will be disqualified if it has any copyrighted image or element.
How do I submit or send my design?
Can I re-use my poster design from this contest for other projects
No.All submissions cannot be submitted or used fully or partially elsewhere till the results are announced. The winning design becomes the property of KASHISH and cannot be reused anywhere in full or in parts.
Will I get credit if my design is selected?
Yes of course! As the winner designer your name will be announced in the press and on the festival website. Also, your face pic will appear in the festival catalog with your brief bio note.
Is there any other reward?
The reward includes INR 20,000 cash award, a KASHISH trophy, and a Festival Guest Pass that allows entry to all festival events during KASHISH 2014 (travel and accommodation to festival at participants own cost).
What if I am not based in India and my entry is selected as the winner, how will I get the cash reward then?
The reward amount will be wired to your bank after deduction of bank transfer charges, and courier cost to send your trophy.
