KASHISH Mumbai International Queer Film Festival is the first and only LGBTQ film festival in India to be held in a mainstream theater and the first queer festival in India to receive clearance from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. KASHISH was voted as one of the top 5 coolest LGBT film festivals in the world by a worldwide poll conducted by MovieMaker Magazine in 2013.

Over the previous 5 editions, from 2010 to 2014, the festival has grown from strength to strength, attracting close to 6500 footfalls over the 4 1/2 days of the festival at two venues. The festival, every year, screens around 120 - 130 films that include shorts, documentaries, features - all centered around LGBTQ themes. The festival attracts more than 30% non LGBT audience, film & media celebrities and intentional guests.

6th edition of the festival will be held May 27 - 31, 2015 at the iconic Art Deco theater Liberty Cinema (built in 1947!) and Alliance Française de Bombay.

The theme for this year is Reaching Out, Touching Hearts, reflecting the urgent need for all of us to reach across barriers and boundaries, reach out to everyone, and build alliances across race, class, caste, religion, sex, gender identity and sexual orientation to challenge prejudice, change attitudes and create a society that allows each person to live with love and dignity.

KASHISH Mumbai International Queer Film Festival is South Asia's and India's biggest LGBT film festival that today is an important event in Mumbai's cultural calendar. If you are motivated to work, passionate, committed, hardworking and want to make a difference, while at the same time gaining valuable work experience, then apply for the KASHISH 2015 Summer Internship Program.

Duration of #kashish2015 Internship: May 1 to June 1, 2015

Who are we looking for: Students and working professionals over the age of 18, who want to intern with KASHISH to gain valuable and real world work experience at India's biggest queer film fest or you are just looking for a summer break. Candidates should be computer literate, can read, write and speak English and have a working knowledge of Marathi and Hindi. Knowledge of a regional or foreign language would earn you more credits.

Functional areas: 

Media Intern: Interact with the press persons, organise press conferences and media interviews with filmmakers and actors, prepare press releases and dockets, manage the festival website as well as other social media accounts.

Event Management Intern: Filmmaker and guest coordination, stage and foyer management, handle adminsties, coordinate with the festival team to arrange for the events - from press conferences to press preview, ensuring everything is in place from panelists to flowers and mikes. 

Technical Interns: Should technical knowledge of handling projectors, making playlists, calm demeanour to handle crisis situations and problem solving skills.

Rewards:

Interns will receive a token compensation. An experience certificate will be awarded at the successful completion of the internship program.

Winner of KASHISH 2015 International Poster Design Contest

Revealing the winner of KASHISH 2015 International Poster Design Contest. The winner is NIHARIKA RASTOGI, art director from New Delhi. Her design was chosen from 122 entries from 38 countries by celebrity fashion designer Padma Shri Wendell Rodricks

Speaking about the winning design, Wendell Rodricks said, "The winning poster was very cinematic in its visualization. There is a calm without the shrill in terms of excessive colour. It is what we need today to communicate the LGBT cause. It reaches out to everyone without a sexual barrier. Anchoring the base in the city of Mumbai is another plus. This is a poster that truly opens the LGBT door to embrace every person by reaching out with a hand and touching hearts via cinema".

KASHISH Mumbai International Queer Film Festivalcongratulates the winner who will be awarded Rs.20,000 cash prize and trophy at KASHISH 2015 (May 27-31, 2015)
